Note biografiche e bibliografia di Charles Nuetzel
Charles Alexander Nuetzel, nato il 10 novembre 1934 a San Francisco nello stato della California è un editore e uno scrittore americano di fantascienza. Figlio di un illustratore, ha frequentato il San Fernando Valley State College per un semestre e successivamente ha svolto diverse professioni, tra cui quella di cantante pop e tecnico cinematografico. Nel 1960 ha iniziato a pubblicare fantascienza con il racconto A Very Cultured Taste apparso su Jade Magazine, al quale sono seguiti racconti e romanzi firmati con svariati pseudonimi (Albert Augustus Jr., John Davidson, Charles English, George Frederic, David Johnson (I) e Alec Rivere per citare i più utilizzati) oltre che con il suo vero nome. |  |
Tra i suoi lavori più noti troviamo Lost City of the Damned del 1961 e la serie Noomas, un ciclo di romanzi che ricalcano lo stile di Edgar Rice Burroughs con echi delle storie di Gor di John Norman comprensivi di elementi erotici più o meno pronunciati.
La serie è stata pubblicata da Powell Books, casa editrice fondata da Nuetzel e di cui curava Powell Science Fiction, una la collana di fantascienza di romanzi tascabili.
Ha lavorato come editore e si è ritirato dalla scrittura nel 1971 con molti dei suoi racconti e dei suoi romanzi, poco conosciuti, che sono stati ripubblicati a partire dal 2006 da Wildside Press e altre case editrici, anche in formato elettronico.
