Note biografiche e bibliografia di Cat Rambo
Cat Rambo è la firma di Catherine Tigerlily Rambo, nata a Bryan nello stato del Texas il 14 novembre 1963, curatrice e scrittrice americana di genere fantasy e fantascienza. Dopo aver lavorato come programmatrice-scrittrice per Microsoft e come cartomante, si è laureata ai Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars e al Clarion West Writers Workshop, iniziando la sua carriera di scrittrice con il fandom per poi guadagnarsi un posto tra i professionisti della fantascienza, sia come curatrice di antologie e riviste, sia come autrice. E' stata inoltre per sei anni editor di Fantasy Magazine, periodo professionale che gli è valso una nomination al World Fantasy Special Award 2012 nella categoria Non-professional e presidente della Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America nel periodo 2015-2019. |

Ha iniziato a pubblicare fantascienza con il racconto Three Sons nel 2001, racconto che è stato successivamente incluso nell'antologia The Surgeon's Tale and Other Stories del 2007 in collaborazione con Jeff VanderMeer, con ciascun autore che ha contribuito per circa la metà del contenuto del volume.
I suoi racconti brevi sono apparsi su riviste come Asimov's Science Fiction, Clarkesworld Magazine, Strange Horizons, Weird Tales e Tor.com sin dalla pubblicazione di Grandmother's Road Trip sulla rivista Chizine numero 26 nel 2005 e i sui lavori hanno costantemente ottenuto menzioni e apparizioni nelle migliori antologie dell'anno.
Numerosi anche i riconoscimenti ottenuti dalla scrittrice. Nel 2008 il racconto The Surgeon's Tale ha ricevuto una nomination al Locus Award, nel 2010 la raccolta Eyes Like Sky and Coal and Moonlight è stata selezionata per l'Endeavour Award e nello stesso anno il racconto breve Narrative of a Beast's Life ha ricevuto una nomination al Locus, così come Clockwork Fairies l'anno succesivo.
Nel 2013 il racconto breve Five Ways to Fall in Love on Planet Porcelain è stato selezionato per il premio Nebula, vinto nel 2020 da Carpe Glitter, nel 2016 Beasts of Tabat è stato selezionato al Compton Crook Award, mentre i racconti Left Behind e Crazy Beautiful hanno ricevuto una nomination al Locus Award rispettivamente nel 2017 e 2022. Il romanzo You Sexy Thing nel 2022 è stato selezionato per il Dragon Award e ha ricevuto una nomination al premio Locus.
You Sexy Thing, pubblicato nel 2021 è una space opera che vede protagonista l'ex ammiraglio Nicolette "Niko" Larsen, lasciare le armi per inseguire un sogno: aprire un ristorante ai confini dell'universo conosciuto. Sulla stazione TwiceFar, insieme a una brigata di ex commilitoni e alieni eccentrici, gestisce il Last Chance, un rifugio culinario per viaggiatori spaziali ma è costretto con la sua squadra a fuggire a bordo di una nave senziente. In un mix di inseguimenti spaziali, ricette stellari e legami indissolubili, You Sexy Thing e i due episodi successivi dell'omonima serie regalano ai lettori un'avventura che ha la stessa verve della Guida galattica per gli autostoppisti di Douglas Adams.
