Note biografiche e bibliografia di Yoon Ha Lee
Yoon Ha Lee, nata a Houston nello stato del Texas il 26 gennaio 1979, è una poetessa e scrittrice americana di fantasy e fantascienza. Dopo il liceo alla Seoul Foreign School, ha frequentato il college alla Cornell University laureandosi in matematica e ha conseguito un master in educazione matematica secondaria alla Stanford University. Terminati gli studi ha lavorato come analista per una società di intelligence del mercato energetico, si è occupata di web design e ha insegnato matematica. Ha esordito come scrittrice nel 1999 con il racconto The Hundredth Question e ha pubblicato narrativa breve su riviste del settore come Tor.com, Audubon Magazine, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Clarkesworld e altre ancora. |

I racconti Flower, Mercy, Needle, Chain e Ghostweight hanno ricevuto una nomination al Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award e al Locus Award e sono stati anche pubblicati nelle antologie The Year's Best Science Fiction curate da Gardner Dozois che ha definito la scrittrice come "una di coloro che aiutano a portare la fantascienza nel ventunesimo secolo".
Il suo primo romanzo, Ninefox Gambit del 2016, inizia la saga Machineries of Empire, una serie di complesse storie di fantascienza militare in una stile Space Opera, e ha vinto il Locus Award 2017 nella categoria miglior romanzo di uno scrittore esordiente oltre ad essere stato finalista ai premi Hugo, Nebula e Clarke. Allo stesso modo i suoi sequel, Raven Stratagem nel 2017 e Revenant Gun nel 2018, sono stati finalisti al premio Hugo.
Nel 2013 ha vinto il Premio Hugo con Mono no aware e anche il racconto The Man Who Ended History: A Documentary ha ricevuto una nomination per lo stesso premio.
Yoon si è dedicata con successo anche alla narrativa per ragazzi: Dragon Pearl, il primo libro della serie Thousand Worlds pubblicato da Disney Hyperion con il marchio editoriale "Rick Riordan Presents", ha vinto il Locus Award 2020 come miglior libro per giovani adulti, il Mythopoeic Fantasy Award 2020 ed è stato finalista al Lodestar Award 2020 e all'Andre Norton Award 2019.
Nel 2020 ha scritto il romanzo fantasy Phoenix Extravagant che è stato pubblicato da Solaris Books e il racconto The Mermaid Astronaut che ha ricevuto una nomination al Premio Hugo 2021.
