Craig Kee Strete, nato a Fort Wayne nello stato dell'Indiana il 6 maggio 1950, è uno scrittore americano di fantascienza di discendenza Cherokee. Laureato nel 1975 alla Wayne State University e nel 1978 all'Università della California a Irvine iniziò la sua carriera di scrittore nei primi anni '70, mentre lavorava nell'industria cinematografica e televisiva, con alcuni racconti emotivi sui nativi americani e storie brevi di fantascienza. Nel marzo 1974 incominciò a svolgere l'incarico di curatore del mensile Amateur Magazine Red Planet Earth, pubblicato dal Northstar Intertribal Council e che si autodefiniva A Magazine of American Indian Science Fiction.

Il suo primo lavoro professionale è stato Time Deer che apparve nel numero 4 (giugno 1974) del mensile da lui curato e che riscosse successo quando apparve sulla rivista If di novembre/dicembre 1974.

Ha avuto tre nomination al Nebula Award: due per i racconti Time Deer e A Sunday Visit with Great-Grandfather e uno per il romanzo The Bleeding Man. Strete ha pubblicato quattro raccolte di racconti: The Bleeding Man and Other Science Fiction Stories, If All Else Fails..., Dreams That Burn in the Night e Death Chants: la sua narrativa breve combina spesso ritmi di prosa e argomenti tipici di chi possiede un background da nativo americano con i temi di fantascienza più consueti del periodo, come la colonizzazioni di altri mondi. Ne è un esempio calzante il racconto When They Find You del 1977.

Tra i suoi romanzi, To Make Death Love Us è stato pubblicato con lo pseudonimo di Sovereign Falconer.
