Bernhardt Jackson Hurwood, nato a New York City il 22 luglio 1926 e morto a New York il 23 gennaio 1987, è stato uno scrittore americano di genere fantasy e di fantascienza. Abbandonò gli studi universitari per prestare servizio nella marina mercantile degli Stati Uniti, ma riprese lo studio per laurearsi nel 1949. Dopo la laurea svolse diversi lavori, ma solo agli inizi degli anni sessanta i suoi scritti ebbero quel successo tale da spingerlo a dedicarsi a tempo pieno alla scrittura. Le sue opere, firmate anche con gli pseudonimi B.J. Hurwood, Mallory T. Knight e D. Gunther Wilde, riguardano principalmente il mondo del soprannaturale trattando di vampiri, licantropi e fantasmi.
