John Christopher - Biografia
Sam Christopher Youd, nato a Huyton nel Lancashire il 16 aprile 1922 e morto a Balt il 3 febbraio 2012, è stato uno scrittore inglese di fantascienza. Frequentò la Peter Symonds' School a Winchester e prestò servizio presso i Royal Corps of Signals tra il 1941 e il 1946. Grazie a una borsa di studio della Rockefeller Foundation iniziò la carriera di scrittore, pubblicando tramite la casa editrice Dennis Dobson il romanzo The Winter Swan nel 1949. Raggiunse l'apice della sua popolarità negli anni '50 e '60 grazie a diverse opere interessanti, la migliore delle quali è The Death of Grass o No Blade of Grass del 1956. |

Nel 1966 iniziò a scrivere romanzi di fantascienza per adolescenti: famose le trilogie Tripods e The Sword of the Spirits caratterizzate da una trama apocalittica e post apocalittica.
Oltre a John Christopher, Youd utilizzò svariati pseudonimi: Samuel Youd, Christopher Youd, Stanley Winchester, Hilary Ford, William Godfrey, Peter Graaf, Peter Nichols, William Vine e Anthony Rye.
