Raymond Z. Gallun - Biografia
Raymond Zinke Gallun, nato a Beaver Dam nel Wisconsin il 22 marzo 1911 e morto il 2 aprile 1994, è stato uno scrittore americano di fantascienza. Lasciò presto il college e viaggiò in tutto il mondo, vivendo un'esistenza da vagabondo e svolgendo una miriade di lavori diversi negli anni precedenti la seconda guerra mondiale. Negli anni '30 iniziò la carriera di scrittore quando vendette una serie di racconti alle riviste di fantascienza: Old Faithful del 1934 fu il suo primo racconto ad essere pubblicato mentre The Gentle Brain venne pubblicato su Science Fiction Quarterly nel 1940 con lo pseudonimo di Arthur Allport.Il suo primo libro, People Minus X, è stato pubblicato nel 1957 da Simon and Schuster. |

Successivamente fu la volta di The Planet Strappers nel 1961 edito da Pyramid, mentre la raccolta The Best of Raymond Z. Gallun, pubblicata nel 1978, offre una selezione dei suoi primi lavori.
Gallun venne premiato con l'I-CON Lifetime Achievement Award nel 1985: il premio è stato successivamente ribattezzato The Raymond Z. Gallun Award.
In carriera ha firmato molte delle sue opere con svariati pseudonimi: Arthur Allport, William Callahan, Dow Elstar, Raymond Gallun e E. V. Raymond tra i più utilizzati.
