Daniel David Pearlman, nato a New York City il 22 luglio 1935 e morto il 18 febbraio 2013, è stato un professore universitario e uno scrittore americano di fantascienza. Dopo aver conseguito un Ph.D. in Letteratura comparata alla Columbia University, specializzandosi sulla figura di Ezra Pound, visse per alcuni anni in Spagna prima di rientrare negli Stati Uniti insegnando in vari licei e università. Successivamente chiuse la sua carriera accademica insegnando inglese all'Università del Rhode Island, scrittura creativa e poesia americana moderna. Dal 1982 si dedicò alla sua passione per la narrativa pubblicando due romanzi ambientati nella guerra civile spagnola e ispirati al cosiddetto realismo magico per poi, a partire dalla fine del 1987, cambiare genere scrivendo fantascienza.

Pubblicò regolarmente racconti fantascientifici su riviste e antologie durante gli anni '80, '90 e molti dei suoi racconti vennero poi inseriti nelle raccolte personali The Final Dream & Other Fictions del 1995, The Best-Known Man in the World & Other Misfits del 2001 e A Giant in the House & Other Excesses del 2011.

Nel 1995 fondo e curò la newsletter Council for the Literature on the Fantastic, che apparve in cinque numeri prima di essere pubblicata online nel 1999 e successivamente interrotta.
