Note biografiche e bibliografia di John Chu
John Chu, nato a Taiwan, è un architetto di microprocessori, traduttore, narratore di podcast e uno scrittore americano di fantascienza. Si è trasferito negli Stati Uniti e ha iniziato a imparare l'inglese all'età di sei anni e, amante della lettura sin da bambino, si è ispirato a scrivere fantascienza dalle opere di Ted Chiang. Dopo aver conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in ingegneria informatica, ha frequentato i laboratori di scrittura di fantascienza e fantasy Viable Paradise e Clarion. Ha iniziato a pubblicare fantascienza nel 2011 con il racconto Thirty Seconds from Now, apparso nel 2013 nell'antologia The Time Traveller's Almanac a cura di Ann VanderMeer e Jeff VanderMeer. |  |
Il racconto The Water That Falls on You from Nowhere scritto nel 2013 ha vinto il Premio Hugo 2014 nella categoria miglior racconto breve mentre con il racconto lungo If You Find Yourself Speaking to God, Address God with the Informal You ha vinto il premio Nebula 2022 e il Locus Award 2023.
Nei suoi lavori mostra grande sensibilità ai temi di razza, cultura, genere, sessualità e descrive contrasti generazionali contrapponendoli a dilemmi magico-realisti circondati da un alone di mistero.
