Nalo Hopkinson - Biografia
Nalo Hopkinson, nata a Kingston in Giamaica il 20 dicembre 1960 è una editrice e scrittrice canadese di horror, fantasy e di fantascienza. Cresciuta in Guyana, Trinidad e Canada ha vissuto in un ambiente letterario dal momento che sua madre era un tecnico di biblioteca mentre suo padre, poeta, drammaturgo e attore, insegnava anche inglese e latino. Ha conseguito un Master of Arts laurea in scrittura narrativa popolare alla Seton Hill University, dove ha studiato con il suo mentore e istruttore, lo scrittore di fantascienza James Morrow, e ha vissuto a Toronto dal 1977 al 2011 prima di trasferirsi in California, dove lavora come professore di scrittura creativa presso l'Università della California Riverside. |

Nel 1999 ha vinto il Premio John Wood Campbell per il miglior scrittore esordiente, mentre nel 2021 è stata insignita del Damon Knight Grand Master.
I suoi romanzi Brown Girl in the Ring, Midnight Robber, The Salt Roads, The New Moon's Arms e i racconti nella sua raccolta Skin Folk spesso attingono alla storia e alla lingua caraibica, e alle
sue tradizioni di narrazione orale e scritta.
Attraverso il suo lavoro affronta spesso le differenze culturali e importanti temi sociali come l'abuso sessuale e infantile.
