Brian Neville Ball, nato a Cheshire il 19 giugno 1932 e morto a Doncaster nel South Yorkshire il 23 luglio 2020 è stato un insegnante e uno scrittore inglese di soprannaturale, thriller polizieschi, narrativa per ragazzi e fantascienza. Laureato alla London University nel 1960, conseguì un master presso la Sheffield University nel 1968, mentre per mantenersi gli studi lavorò come insegnante di scuola secondaria dal 1955 al 1965, prima di diventare scrittore freelance e docente universitario. Iniziò a pubblicare fantascienza con il racconto The Pioneer che apparve sulla rivista New Worlds nel febbraio 1962.
