Reginald Alec Martin, nato a Londra l'11 gennaio 1908 e morto a Haywards Heath nella contea del Sussex il 27 giugno 1971, è stato uno scrittore inglese di storie per ragazzi, di romanzi e racconti di genere western e di fantascienza. Iniziò a lavorare a 13 anni e trascorse del tempo in vari paesi, lavorando come cowboy, cercatore d'oro, commerciante di cavalli selvaggi e altro ancora. Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale iniziò a scrivere, pubblicando il suo primo romanzo nel 1949 con lo pseudonimo Hank McCoy. Ha continuato a scrivere romanzi western negli anni successivi firmandoli Scott Martin, Tex Bancroft, Brett Cameron, Buck Savage e Burt Merrill.

Il romanzo di fantascienza The Wheel in the Sky del 1954 venne firmato Rafe Barnard, ma in carriera usò anche gli pseudonimi Nicholas Marrat e Simon Latter. Nel 1953 iniziò a scrivere romanzi per bambini, a partire dalla serie di western Pocomoto firmandosi Rex Dixon, alla quale seguirono la serie di fantascienza Kemlo firmata E.C. Eliott e alcuni romanzi di avventura firmati Robert Martin.
